Kapi‘olani Community College offers the Associates in Arts (A.A.) Degree with a Focus in Dual Preparation for students who are interested in working with children and youth in elementary school settings and who are interested in serving students receiving special education services and instruction.

Associates in Arts (A.A.) Degree with a Focus in Dual Preparation Education (60 credits)

Degree Description

  • Two-year degree with practical coursework in general education courses
  • Specialization in Elementary Education courses
  • Preparation for employment in a global market
  • Students may transfer to the University of Hawai‘i at Manoa to fulfill a Bachelor’s degree and licensure in Elementary Education, or to other teacher education programs

Transfer Options

The Associates in Arts (A.A.) Degree with a Focus in Elementary Education will allow a student to complete the necessary general education coursework and to continue on to earn a Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) Degree in Elementary Education at the University of Hawai‘i at Manoa (UHM), or other teacher education baccalaureate program or university.

In addition, through transfer articulation agreements made with the UHM College of Education, students may complete the KCC equivalent courses to fulfill the prerequisite requirements for the UHM Elementary Education Program.
